Work/Life Balance

The patrol schedule implemented by Albany PD has been designed to offer its officers a favorable work-life balance, with a notable feature being our 7 twelve-hour shift arrangement within a two-week pay period. The 12-hour shifts not only reduce the frequency of shifts per week, but also provide officers with longer periods of consecutive days off, facilitating improved rest and recuperation and enhancing the overall well-being of the officers. This also ensures that they can consistently perform at their best while serving the community.

80 Hours of Vacation Time

As recognition for the dedication and hard work put forth by lateral officers, Albany PD offers the addition of 80 hours to their vacation bank upon the successful completion of field training. This recognizes the nature of the profession for lateral hires. Albany PD aims to ensure that these officers are given the opportunity to benefit from their commitment after the completion of their training, while continuing to accumulate their regular vacation time.
